I came across Chrysia Freeland's book 'Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everbody Else' from a passage quoted in Miles Kimball post The Rise Fall of Venice. Parts of the book are presented in the New Atlantic article The Rise of the New Global Elite which sounds like a panegyric of the plutocrats. But the book is more balanced, particularly the last two chapters is an antidote for some of the earlier hype. The earlier chapters may be useful to new entrepreneurs. The book won the 2013 Lionel Gelber prize. A review from FT.com Follow the Money by a former editor of The Economist.
